Active Stonnington Action Plan

The City of Stonnington local government area is home to over 114,000 residents, boasting a significant range of sporting complexes and reserves. With a wide variety of sport and recreation opportunities, this project endeavours to increase participation and ensure fair access and accessibility for all.

The City of Stonnington, supported by Fourfold Studio, undertook a collaborative engagement process to guide the renewal of their Active Stonnington Action Plan and Sports Infrastructure Plan. In an effort to increase partcipation, inclusivity and accessibility in sports and recreation, the project aimed to inform an updated, action-focused strategy aligned with Council’s Fair Access Policy 2024-27.

Client: City of Stonnington

Engagement occurred from February to May 2025, involving Council staff workshops, targeted sessions with sports clubs and underrepresented groups, and broad community input through an online survey and in-person intercept surveys. A dedicated webpage and prize draw were also utilised to encourage participation.

Valuable insights were obtained from this through engagement process which will greatly benefit Council in developing the Active Stonnington Action Plan.

The engagement outcomes will shape a plan that meaningfully reflects community needs and supports increasing, equitable and sustainable participation in sports and recreation throughout the LGA.
