Community aspirations are often an afterthought in the development industry, but Fourfold Studio (previously CoDesign Studio) worked with Fiteni Homes to ensure that the ideas of families and young people were naturally woven into the design process for their new greenfield residential community in Redlands, Queensland.

Like many new communities, the Redlands residents were hesitant to see development change. We stepped in to run an award-winning engagement plan with visioning workshops and empowering methods for locals to have a genuine say whilst also fostering community connection and growth in social cohesion.

This project invited the community to actively shape the character and design of the new 20 hectare nature and recreation corridor, winning the hearts of locals and gaining political buy-in.

The Woodbury Engagement Program went above and beyond, bringing together professionals from the design and development industry, community organisations, local businesses, families, and youth.

The Engagement Hub alone saw well over 10,000 people visit the centre and participate in the process.

This project has successfully mobilised a community ready to engage with future planning and design decisions. Additionally, the process established an appetite for better social cohesion and a strong framework to foster the integration of new and existing communities.

Now, we are proud to reflect on the role we played in bringing together complex stakeholders in a meaningful and heart-warming way.
