Queensland Independent Schools, Block Grant Authority Master Plan Guide

A collaborative, cross-disciplinary project uniting industry leaders in the design of a practical and accessible resource to support school leaders as they navigate the complexities of developing an effective school master plan.

Fourfold Studio joined a multi-disciplinary team of collaborators in the creation of highly tailored design principles and a practical toolkit for Queensland Independent Schools, Block Grant Authority. The purpose of the toolkit is to guide the effective development of school master plans, ensuring that independent schools across Queensland have access to the resources they need to deliver great educational outcomes.

In order to produce an effective and knowledge-rich toolkit, a series of highly collaborative workshops were facilitated. These workshops served to determine the specific elements for inclusion in the toolkit, unpacking everything from the intended audience to what makes an effective school environment and what a successful master planning process looks like.

Client: Queensland Independent Schools, Block Grant Authority (QISBGA)

Partners: Urban Enquiry, Arkhefield, Surroundings

Workshop attendees represented a variety of disciplines, ranging from education to architecture, and brought a wealth of knowledge to inform the project. This group also contributed to the testing and refinement of the toolkit as it progressed.

This hands-on process has set the toolkit up for success, enabling a unique opportunity for cross- disciplinary collaboration and problem-solving, with participants united by the desire to create new, wellbeing centered learning environments.
